Where should you go to try some darn good Taiwanese beef noodle in the San Gabriel Valley? If you want a big bowl of authentic beef noodle soup at a cheap price, check out Noodle King in Alhambra. It’s not somewhere most people would typically go into. No flashy signs, no big tables.
The beef is really soft and falls apart when you bite into it. They also offer tasty traditional Taiwanese cold appetizers. They have beef tendon, jellyfish, pig’s ear, etc. You can choose what type of noodle you want in your soup: thick, thin, vermicelli. If you’re feeling very hungry, opt for an extra large size.
The green onion pancake is very good and cheap appetizer to start off with. It’s only $1.75. They do have fried oyster egg aka “oh wa jian” but it’s not the best available to us in the SGV.
Overall this establishment has some great food. The menus is pretty extensive and is accurately translated into English with pictures. Do keep in mind it’s cash only. Noodle King also has excellent service for a hold in the wall Chinese place. They really put in the extra effort.
